ya, go for 2x1GB 667Mhz RAM since intel platforms performs best when the Mem
frequencies r high ; unlike for AMD it depends on latencies......

damn busy...
i think ur mobo supports 800Mhz RAM. if yes then go for 2x1GB 800MHz
it will cost u a little more than 667MHz but u wont regret.:)

+1 @utsav

DDR2 800MHz RAMs r getting cheaper everyday.....

but in real world tests u will only get a few increase in performance,so sometimes u hav to adjust ur CPU FSB to get max. out of 800MHz RAMs

I would suggest some thing else... If possible then Sell the 1 GB ;)... now whether u sale or not, try and get your self a Single 2 GB module... which is around Rs. 2000/- to Rs. 2400/- for the 667 MHz :) depending on ur location...

How do we know in the latencies when buying?
the seller only knows Transcend or Kingston ..

Why not 2*1GB for dual channel man??

UPgrading to 2 GB RAM is good thinking........
But 1 GB RAM is more than sufficient for normal work.

If U dont do heavy works like...animations..photo editing, and dont use many things to decorate desktop...than there is no need to 2 GB.

But..if U are planing to have vista...with aero theme...than upgrade to 2 Gb is suggested.

for a PC to be future proof you need 2 GB ram. I recomend 2 X 1 GB @ 800 MHz.

you definitely need that if you plan to run Graphics intensive stuff like Compiz Fusion, Maya, Crysis, etc

RAM is not like motherboard and processor.
RAM ca be added anytime..so, if U dont have requirement....why waste money right now. 1 GB is more than sufficient for normal works.

hey, u don't haf 2 know d latencies when u r buy a RAM(but u should know if u r a real geek :p ) ; I mean dat , after u haf brought d 667MHz RAM u can increase
its latencies 4 best performance with AMD , but for Intel if u do so there is no use......u will haf to oc d mem frequecies upto 800MHz for performance; so I prefer 800MHz RAM for Intel platform

You have to decrease latencies for better performance.

If your Mobo supports upto 4GB RAM, I'd suggest you settle for a single 2GB 667 stick, and get another 2GB later when you can afford to.. :D
