How do i edit Ubuntu Linux?

Hi!

Can someone please help me. I want to edit Ubuntu Linux to create my own OS. How do I edit the start screen and look and feel of it without spoiling the code.

Better have a look at linux from scratch project. you can try out linux from scratch and if you feel confident enough, you can try out beyond linux from scratch too. If you just want to change the startup screen and look and feel you can do it by messing around the preferences.
