How can I install my modem in Ubuntu 5.10

    Can you elobrate more please. What kind of modem is it? What connection you have?
    BTW, try to get Ubuntu 6.06 DVD. It is the latest version and it has been bundled by a rival mag this month.

    BTW ubuntu edgy eft is due on OCT 1st week

    reg modems INTERNAL MODEMS are Winmodems or s/w modems while External Modems are the real ones.see below link :

    Yeah and Debian 4.0 with 2.6.17 kernel in December will be a nice move.

    I have an Agere Systems AC'97 Modem v2149D(It's a soft modem).

    Umm it maybe difficult. Just check the link given by prakash. If your modem is listed as supported then well and good or else you are out of luck.
