How 2 re-installing or repair w2k ???

can anybody give me step-by-step guidance ?????

or any website which would provide such an information ????

hey,

running setup doesn`t work, as it tries 2 re-install the whole OS ...

i just wanna repair it ... cann`t c the option repair ...

as have 2 os 98 & w2k ..

boot with cd, start installation.
on install screen after copying required files u will see option to boot inst recovery console.
start recovery console u will need ur administrator account's password to continue.
then u will boot into command mode knows as recovery console.

type help for more info and available command.

that is the only option to recovery.

Even if u reinstall th whole OS, u will NOT lose any of ur programs or data, bacause only th OS files are re-installed and th disk is NOT formatted. I tried it myself a lot of times in XP, and it always solved my problem.

my frnd if u re-install the entire os wont the registry entrie be lost rendering all ur programs useless, be4 doing re-install tell him to take a backup of his registry

re-installation of Windows does not result in loss of registry entries.

only a clean format installation deletes the previous files.

Reinstalling windows does not make much change regarding
registry entries by programs installed after the last time setup ran.
However some modified keys might be reset to their defaults.
Not much to worry about not being able to use some programms .
However backin up the registry does not hurt.
