No microsoft in Ubuntu. You can use gmail's POP settings though.

If you are on Windows, you can use Windows Live Mail to download messages from your Hotmail accounts for offline reading.

Are you using OE if it is you can directly use HTML mail there. Or if for Mozilla Thunderbird Install Webmail Addon with necessary plugins. It currently supports Yahoo, Hotmail/MSN, Mail.com, Lycos, gmail AOL etc.
