Honor resumes bootlocker unlock

https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho.../honor-bootloader-unlocking-limited-t3837880/

XDA Developers are actively engaged in software development and they constantly provide valuable suggestions to optimize Honor products. Based on their feedback, that unlocked bootloaders make it easier for them to develop and create, Honor has decided to re-open bootloader unlock on an exclusive number of codes to the XDA Developer community.

Looks like Honor kind of knows it was a bad move & are able to convince the management for rooting, at least for Honor devices, still nothing for Huawei ones.

The news is about a week old but is a news worth sharing.

What is this bootloader unlock? Is this another security method?
People unlock the bootloader, then root their phones or install custom ROMs (usually). Rooting & custom ROMs gives a wide variety of features. I used to root my phones once upon a time to customize it further, most of which can nowadays be done with Theme engines present in custom UIs like MIUI, EMUI, etc. A big use of rooting IMO is ad blocker. Nowadays there are a lot of ads everywhere & an ad blocker is pretty convenient.

There are a lot more stuff that you can do though. Some of the forum members hate MIUI but still have a Xiaomi device. They install a stock android like OS on their phone & enjoy using it.

They should've opened it to everyone instead. Or, they should do what Oneplus does, one fastboot command away from unlock.

But then that could get rid of all the telemetry and custom app stores that they have preinstalled.

No consumer cares about them or other bloatwares.
I get it, they want to be like Apple. But then instead of claiming that, they say "it is for providing better experience".

Because Apple is still in business & making a lot of profits even though their devices & policies are against the consumer, you can't expect others to be more pro-consumer. If Apple goes bankrupt (maybe in an alternate universe), companies would have to take consumers seriously to be in business.

Then look at Sony and HTC which won't be in business in few years. If Apple had it's worth stored in banks, they'll probably earn more interest than combined sales of these two.
Market doesn't needs every other OEM to copy Apple. Xiaomi is still called Apple of China but they have not abandoned their customers. Bootloader unlocking may take time but they don't void the warranty. 3-4 year old phones are getting MIUI updates.
