Help secure my files in RedHat

Broken In
I am a student in an engineering college.

All our work are stored on a central server in our created directories under a single parent directory. We all log-in simultaneously via different terminals with the SAME USER NAME.

Now, is there a method (like writing a script, etc.) which I can use to deny others access to the files in my folder without a (say) password?

apple_grew, if you're logging into the same server with the same username/password then there is no way you can protect your work except 'hide' it. But it will do you little good because anyone knowing the locationg can easily delete it.
