I am planning to buy a new system. I have decided on evrythinbg except motherboard. I am going to use intel c2d e6300. plz tell me which chipset is better, Nforce4 or Intel p965. also tell me a MB with a modest price tag of Rs. 5-6K. If possible, tell one with atleast one firewire port. Also, it should support graphics card with Nvidia chipset

For Intel processors stick to an Intel chipset mobo. You an get a MSI 965 mobo for about 6.5k. It has the firewire ports you want.

For the C2D platform nforce4 is not available it was for the s939 family,,
For the newer C2Ds you can get 965 or 976, the 965 is cheaper.

Ah... Thanks all ya guys! I'm new at da forum, so I didn't know if I could search this topic without actually starting a thread. My budget had increased, and I hv decided on Gigabyte Ga p965 dq6. What's ur say? That mobo even has a built in heat sink solution and is an overclocker's delight albeit with no SLI. Keep replying. Also, can u suggest some board on the new 975x chipset from intel? it should not cost more than 9.5k thnx n Happy Diwali

Consider MSI Neo F 965 around 6k, it will get a 25% oc as well. Or consider Gigabyte 965 S3 which will get huge overclocks, something like >50%.
