help on buying a second hand laptop

i would like to purchase a laptop, i am a to be engineering student and what i need is a purely functional device. since i will do all the cpu intensive work on the mid range pc that i will buy i am ready to even buy a second hand laptop if i get a good deal with low config

please tell me if it is a good idea to go in for second hand laptops, and where can i buy them
my budget is<25000...in fact 25000 wud b a bit stretched up since i will also b assembling another mid range pc for 30000-35000

please help!!!

If you can stretch your budget a little more, I think you can buy a new one. I have seen advts of brands like Acer for >30K. And don't forget the potential problems a secondhand one may have and the warranty a new one will have.
