hello digitians,

Even i am thinking of buying a new mp3 player. I already have a Transcend T Sonic 610 [2Gb] mp3 player but the capacity is less for me. That is why i wanna buy a new mp3 player preferrably with video support of more capacity (around 4Gb).

I am currently contemplating the Creative Zen 2Gb or 4Gb mp3 player with video support but i am not sure which one to go for. This is because of the prices here in Mumbai.

I asked about the prices and I got to know that the 2Gb is for Rs 2900/- and 4Gb for Rs 5100/-. But the confusion lies in the fact that this player comes with an expandable SD Card Slot.

So i am thinking about going for the 2Gb and buying a good quality (say SanDisk) 4Gb SD Card thereby increasing the capacity to 6GB instead of directly buying the 4Gb version. This will come in a price lesser than the 4Gb variant. But I am not sure about this though, as the access time of the card will also influence the working of the player:(
What if the card gets corrupted over a prolong usage??(just imagining worst case scenario:()

Is it advisable to buy it that way or should i directly go for the 4Gb version only??
So Digitians please advice on this:smile:
Regards.

hey pathik thanks for replying.
So you say 2Gb variant along with a 2Gb or 4Gb SD card will be the best buy??
But what bout the access time and other issues of the card ??

It dont think there will be any GREAT increase in the access time. Also you can use the mSD for other places. & You get a 8GB mSd for 2.4k now.
Also you can keep your most used media in the Device memory.

In Creative Zen, the problem is that the files on the memory card are shown separately and not together with the files on the built-in memory, which is not very convenient. So getting the 4gb model would be a better idea.

yeah point taken;) but won't 2Gb (Device Memory) be less when it comes to storing of songs and videos both.
What i want to know is that if I load remaining multimedia stuff on the SD Card then won't this slower the mp3 player's functioning???

No it won't make it slower. Zen supports SD HC cards upto 32gb. But as I said managing data on both the internal storage as well as external storage on the Zen won't be very convenient. That's why I recommended buying the 4gb version.

@krazzy
thanks for the SD Card information. I wasn't knowing about that fact so i shall surely consider it before buying the player.

hey guys,
I just checked out the Creative Zen prices on their online store and I found this. They are offering the 4Gb variant for $99.99(approximately INR 4000) and the 8Gb variant for $129.99(approximately INR 5200) plus they are offering free shipping on orders above $99.99
Here is the proof.
So guys is it advisable to buy the player from their online store since the prices are conducive for me..

Initially i was confused now i am all the more confused as what to do???
Guys please need advice on this matter.
Regards.:)

^^ Free shipping is only in USA. Not to India. Go and get the 4gig model from nearby store.

Amazon is selling 16gig model for $185.
