i want to buy a pc just for net, music n watching dvds. just basic stuff. wot processor n motherboard shud i go 4. amd or intel? shud semptron 64 2800 b enough? or shud i go 4 intel. my upmoast limit is 8500 4 pro n mb.

Then remove the speakers and spend the additional money on extra RAM.

Sempron and Celeron perform nearly the same. But I'd go with Sempron because it uses less power and produces less heat.

You could go for 3000+ AM2 but it will increase the cost. Not to mention you need a more expensive motherboard to run the AM2 processor.

If you can get Athlon64 3000+ it would be great. It depends on your budget. If it's just for basic stuff then a Sempron will be enough for your needs.

A 15" LCD would be about Rs. 9000. If you are buying a LCD, get a 17" because the cost difference isn't that much and a 17" is significantly bigger than 17".

Either way don't continue with your 9 year old CRT. Get atleast a 17" CRT.
