i've got an ASUS A8NVM mother board. one chip (probably southbridge) on my mb isn't covered by a heatsink and there is facility to connect one. how much temp diff will it make and what is its aprrox cost?
cheaper heatsinks are available from 300-800, but a good heatsink which actually can drop-8-10°C will cost 3000-5000 & are not easily available here in India.
Or you could get coolermaster chipset cooler for around Rs.500. This one *www.coolermaster.com/index.php?LT=...4E1-GP&other_title=RR-NCW-L4E1-GPBlue Ice Pro
ranjan
Its a chipset cooler not a cpu cooler ........and its available in Kolkata. Its actual price is Rs. 360 + vat. For your C2D you better get that "ninja".
Oh ok, ...............................but what is a chipset cooler what are on mobo does it cool? Ninja is what is on my mind but have some reservation since its a big fan & fitting in our Peace cabby will require case modding for sure.
On your mobo there are two small heatsink...........one near the cpu also has heatpipe with asus logo and the other at the bottom near sata port. These two are chipset the one near cpu is called "northbridge" and the bottom one being "southbridge".
