HDD RPM for Laptops

For Laptop computers, is 5400 RPM a standard configuration for SATA HDD?

i.e. if I am getting a Laptop that has SATA HDD 5400 RPM is it normal/common?

Its THE standard for laptop HDDs. Laptops may occasionally have 7200 RPM like desktops, but its pointless unless you are into serious gaming, as it only wastes electricity.

Bad models like Apple MacBook Air, etc have even 4200 RPM HDDs, and you can easily say fug you to those unworthy laptops.

I still haven't found out who will buy that crap instead of going for XPS + Eee combo. Remember choto's idea of buying 320 GB Desktop HDD + Case and 80 Gb laptop HDD + Case instead of buying a single 250 GB External Laptop HDD like you did ? The same reason that made choto cheeta's idea better makes my idea of a Dell XPS + A second small book like MiLeap X, Eee, Ultra Mini or CloudBook a better option.
