If disk is already partitioned then it should be shown in my computer. If its shown in Disk Management in computer management, format it. Otherwise first try on another computer.

@navino

ax3 said u hav to check d jumpers of the HDD.........it means there is a jumper or a small connector like thing on d back side of HDD, connecting any 2 small pairs of pins among a set of pins on d back side of HDD. A jumper is used to set HDD modes like Master,Slave and CS mode. Any wrong combination will lead to improper working of the HDD. Check ur mannul and set the correct mode that is required while casing........

Also sometimes there will be an another jumper for setting the transfer speeds, i.e. setting SATA II to SATA I etc.

@ Charan : Checked it in both front n rear ports.

@ j1n M@tt n sauravktr : Please explain me briefly 2 set correct jumper setting...

BTW, please answer this question... hdd has files upto 150 gb. So, is it possible to use the drive without formating it?

SATA doesnot have any master/slave concept.. if it has a jumper then its for setting it to 150mbps mode ( SATA I )

hey, I ws a bit lazy, didn't read ur above posts :) .......So if ur HDD is a SATA type, then the jumper is for setting it to SATA I and SATA II. By default some HDDs come with jumpers placed as SATA I. Just put the jumpers on the next pair of pins to make it SATA II.
