Grub Problem !

I installed Windows :idea: for a reason . Now I went restoring Grub i installed Ubuntu in /dev/hda7 so acc to it my grub should be in (hd0,6) yes it was in it few days ago .. cause I installed other OS and restored it saftely.. but now when I try restoring it its show grub in (hd0,5) and the grub did not load in restart . Now I got no booting option please help me :smile:

@shash:I think ur partition order are changed.fix it with a livecd and run in terminal:
sudo fdisk /dev/hda(for PATA) or sudo fdisk /dev/sda (for SATA).
now press "x" in prompt to go into expert mode.now press "f" and later "w" and exit fdisk.it should fix partition number change.

And installing grub natively is the solution for ur problem.make sure you have in livecd:
sudo grub
now in grub prompt and since u know the ubuntu partition,
grub>root (hd0,6)
grub>setup(hd0)
exit.
It must be fixed by this method!:p else ur trying on wrong partition.
if ur doubtful of ur ubuntu partition,mount it and check.also do u have any separate /boot partition?
