GRAPHICS AND SOUND PROBLEM IN LINUX

    HI,
    I have a ati 9100 pro igp chipset mobo when I install linux (fedora core 1) on my system it does not detect my sound and graphic card some time it hangs when installing can u tell me wht should I do. I need linux for my course can u tell me any other linux (and can install other software and works better than fc1) which can detect both sound and graphics of my system.

    For that `Hanging` it has to do something with ur hardwares especially if you've got a sata hdd.FC1 is quite old and have 2.4 kernel only.the Linux in its pure form is Debian GNU/Linux with GNOME UI.try Sarge debian or Ubuntu breezy with 2.6 kernel.for graphics card and audio.there are drivers for video with DRI(direct rendering Infrastructure) and ALSA will take care of Sound.YOU may need to modprobe some modules or rarely needs a krnel recompile.nexttime post at open source Section.there are ppl there to help U.
