I want to know that among the two which GPU is better 8800GT or 9600GT?
I also want to know that if the card is gonna draw its power from the PCIe slot and gonna work on the same voltage level, that is of 3.3V, then why would one should upgrade PSU. I was suggested to do so if I planned to upgrade my 7600Gt to 9600GT, I should also upgrade my PSU which is currently 350W to a 450W one.:(
Also by the June end is there any chance of depreciation in GPU prices?
Suggest me a better one in my budget of 11K.
I'm currently eyeing these babies:

  1. POV 8800GT Rs 12,500/-
  2. XFX 9600GT Core Rs 13,500/-
  3. MSI GeForce 9600GT Rs 12,500/-
If the prices have changed of these cards please tell me and also if there's a better option then also lemme know:smile:

I've heard that the 8800gt outperforms the 9600GT, but I would suggest the 9600GT simply because its more future-proof.

The MSI 8800GT 512MB OC 11.8k.
The 9600Gt's are cheaper now. You can get the EVGA 9600GT 512MB SuperClocked @ 9.3k.

9600GT arent more future proof than 8 series cards. If u have a 19" monitor, then 9600GT makes more sense. It performs similar or even better than 8800GT at lower resulutions like 1440*900 nd lower. If u gonna play at higher resulutions nd have bigger moitor, then 8800GT simply outperforms 9600GT.
And bout future proof, 9600GT dun have nythin more which makes it more future proof. Its just that nvidia gave it a 9 series name with no extra addons. Its still DX 10.0 only card.
BTW, u need to upgrade the PSU coz those cards needs extra power thru a six pin PCIE power connector directly from PSU. And it needs a min of 24A~26A on 12v rail on the extra 4 pin power connector among the 24pin connector to mobo.
A 7600GT needs only 90W power whereas 8800GT needs almost 180~190W on load.

If u need to run a gud card on current PSu, opt for an ATI HD 3850 512 MB one. It needs much less power nd performa close to 9600GT nd has gud oc potential. Its more future proof with DX 10.1 nd has gud overclockin potential. Only opt for a dual slot cooler model to make sure it runs cool and stand higher ocing.
