Gift a discman or flash mp3 player??

Hi Guys!

I have to gift a discman to my cusion ..

.. I have done a little bit of research

As for me I want to gift this Philips EXP-2461 ... Philps India

Dont know, it may be little over budget
But I didnt find this on Philips store/showroom ..
btw its not there on ebay.in

Moreover anyone give me a link where I can get this online

yesterday a friend of mine told me that ..
try a Flash memory based mp3 player .. I can get 512mb for less than 3k

Also ..

if ur cousin can handle transferrin music from a pc, then i think d mp3 player wud b better

a discman - he gotta buy music or burn cd's

plus a discman is bigger

plus ur sayin its tuff 2 find and over ur budget

the mp3 player may hav cool features like voice recorder, FM, line in recording, maybe even WMA support....plus ur cousin can also use it as a pendrive 2 store data

I had already discussed that when some1 is getting a gadget for such a cheap rate, one cannot really ask for guarantee, or any quality standard. Anyways, I bought the 1GB player last nite.....It seems to be a SONY player which the shop owner claimed, was imported not from Japan, but from Korea. It cost me a cool 2970/- as mentioned earlier & also plays video MPEG files . The resolution is good & the sound quality is great. The earphones which were provided are just too good....They rock! As for as the product is concerned, no problems yet, & I dont think i will have any in the near future. By the way, I was using a "SONY" 512 MB player before this & that too didnt gimme any problems.....Got to say i have been lucky so far with these gadgets!!

Oh sorry, didnt mention anything about what choice to make.....I must say, go in for a flash based player. Its THE thing to go in for.

Advantages:

1. Store more than 500 mp3 songs (1GB) or more than 1000 wma songs.
Generally even 500 songs is a lot...One never needs to store those many songs at once....Half the numbers for a 512 MB piece.

2. Great for data transfer. Everytime u dont need to burn CDs to transfer from one place to another. In fact, my expenditure on blank CDs came down drastically after I bought myself this player. The USB interface is pretty fast too & u can load 1 GB of songs in less than 6 mins.

3. Listen to songs just about anywhere....Its soo small, slip it into ur pocket & u can make even the most boring lectures in college very tolerable!!....Can u imagine that in case of a discman?

4. You dont need to lunge around the extra mp3 CDs all around....

5. Great battery back-up life. My earlier 512 MB player had a AAA battery which gave a backup period of anything between 8 to 12 hours. My present player has an in-built Li-ion cell......Battery back-up......yet to be checked...The manual claims it to be 20 hours....Cool eh? That translates into an entire journey by train!!!

DISADVANTAGES:

1. Need to have a PC for making the data transfers possible. Theres also a problem of some computers having Win 98 (Thats rare nowadays, but anyways, many PCs in my college r still run on Win 98), bcoz, Win 98 doesnt have this "Plug n Play" system, so one has to carry the driver Cd at all times to avoid diappointment......Better still, save the drivers in the flash card itself....hardly take 0.5% of the total space!!

2. No way to charge the battery when in a journey....U can not charge a Li-ion battery during a journey. My earlier player had AAA cells which I cud replace whenever I wanted to....

cant u play music on it while its charging?

and trains n international flight planes have sockets for plugging in and charging stuff so u can charge in journeys

even car...u can get car chargers and if its not available these computer guys can make one for you not 2 expensive

Hey Ishaan,

My new MP3 player has been in my hands just for 10 hours now.....Havent charged it yet....Will let u know whether I can listen to songs even while charging....

Yes I think it will be a better choice ...

There some other options like creative n Iriver but they are expensive ..
good products by them have been priced above 8K

don't xpect a gud brnd name at a low price...!!!....u will get a brnd which u nvr heard....at a low price....n with high capacity!!
