@akshayt

i did not mention creative inspire 2.1 , instead i have written creative inspire 4.1 which is a pretty decent set of speakers. i am using them myself :)

yes mohit, u used the right word..."decent" but why to buy decent if there are good models available in the market....if u really interested in buying 4.1 then go and buy Altec Lansing ATP5, not many models can compete it....and yea looks gr8 too..

ENjoy....

hey dude , actually i purposely did not include better speakers just to keep the over all price in control and keep it around 50k at the max. I completely agree Altec Lansing speakers have no match then whether its a 2.1 or 4.1 or 5.1 from them :)

what is the cost of atp5?

also, there might not be much improvement in sound/bass quality of 4.1 over 2.1 ,it might just be little improvements here and there if any and addtion of 2 satelites for better surround sound perhaps?

well the quality of bass does not changes even if its 2.1 or 4.1 or 5.1. what matters is the quality of subwoofer...if its a good quality sub then u can get thundering sound form 2.1 also...for e.g. altec lansing MX5021 or creative megaworks 250....yea u can say that while watching a dvd in 5.1 setup then u may get slightly better quality due to the presence of LFE channel but still generally speaking it only matter on the quality of speakers ultimately...

ATP5 may be arnd. Rs.6000, its actually a high end 4.1 model thats why its slightly expensive...

ENjoy...

but is it not obsolete and is it even available now?

which gives better bang for buck for gaming performance:
251 vs 641 vs atp5?

which has better sound quality atp3 vs 251

no it is not obsolete.....maybe u'll have to a do bit of searching but u'll get it....i myself have this model and i'm quite happy with it...

as far as gaming in 4.1 is concerned well...no one and i mean no one can beat altec lansing 641....no one can match its bass performance not even some very good quality 5.1 sets....but but there's a catch...this model is available for Rs.19000....i myself wanted this model but since it was expensive thats why i settled for atp5....but believe me atp5 is also one of the best 4.1 sets u can get in the market....

regarding ur third query...no doubt atp5 is a better performer then 251 in every aspect but then its a 4.1 setup and 251 is a 5.1 setup....

my suggestion to u is that if u want a good quality 5.1 setup witin 6K then go for altec lansing VS3151...its actually an upgrade version of 251 and its far far better then creative inspire 5.1...and u can say that the performance of VS3151 is comparable to atp5 but again u'll have to do a bit of searching as it is a relatively new model...

ENjoy....

My problem is that it is very difficult for me the upgrade the budget of my speakers beyond a limit and 6000 is a bit higher than 251 which is for 4500.

Also,I phoned Trifin, got a number and the man said that atp5 was obsolete and when it was available it was for about 7500 and when i asked for an equivalent one he said that 5100 and that costs about 10k

can i not get vs3151 for about 5k

suave_guy

pedal to metal
well the altec best seller till date in 2.1 segment is atp3 and atp5 is an upgrade 4.1 version so how can it be obsolete....any lets chuck out atp5 as its expensive....

well if u have a budget below 5K then i think 251 is the best option for u, but if u happen to be lucky then u might get VS3151 for 5.5K....

where do u live??

i live in delhi and trifin said that prices have gone up and are bound to go higher
altec lansing 251 has gone from 4500 to 5000 also vs3151 is just 50watts rms with a 20watts sub-woofer/woofer
