Hello,

Have u ever thought why MIDI files are so smaller in size. What sound compression technology they use to compress the 3 minutes song into 10 KBs.

I think u don,t know anything about MIDI files. So first i,ll clear ur basics.

What are MIDI (*.MID) files?
A MIDI file contains what the composer (or the person who played it) did at his/her music keyboard. It keeps track of which note (key) was pressed, when it was pressed, for how long, and at what pressure. Playing back a MIDI file would need a device (sound card) that can generate the sounds of common instruments (eg: Piano, Violins, Drums) on its own. The note data is sent to the device, which then generates the sounds that was intended (or sometimes not intended). A MIDI file is generally very small and can be edited (including changing the instruments altogether) on any PC.

Here's a simplified explanation of how MIDI works. To reproduce the sound of a piano playing a C note, the MIDI file, or sequence, contains digital information that says, "this is a piano sound." Another number says, "a note has been played," and other numbers convey information such as, "the note is middle C," "the key was struck very softly," "the note has now stopped," etc. Musicians love MIDI because it's easy to edit the files.

MIDI files aren't recorded, they are "sequenced." Most MIDI files are made by a musician playing on a synthesizer keyboard. Each instrument must be entered separately, but since MIDI can have multiple tracks, the resulting sequence sounds like the instruments are all playing simultaneously.

MIDI files are only notes and instructions which are played by Synthesizers (Virtual Music Instruments),Simply like a pianoist plays the piano by reading the notes.Same way the synthesizer analyse the MIDI file and plays accordingly.MIDI files are virtual Notes and Synthesizers are like virtual musicians.
So you simply cannot export any recorded sound with vocals as MIDI.

If you want to export into MIDI file from fruity. You have to remove vocals, wave sounds and you just have to use instruments that are MIDI or can be converted to MIDI channels.

Lol...

You can only save a file as MIDI if all the music in channels in your music ...(see the small labelled buttons on the left... with graphs on the right) are MIDI instruments...

See their properties....
