I have a 2.4Ghz P4, 256MB DDR, 40GB HDD. I am planning to buy an AGP card based on either the 6600GT or 6800GT and also 1GB of RAM. But I am not sure if my current processor is capable of handling all the workload once the graphics card and the RAM are installed. Please suggest me if I need to upgrade on any other area except the motherboard which is a 865GBF Intel Original. My Budget is Rs.20k.

the prob u might find in upgradin the proc is the socket
i think u have a mobo with the pga478 socket
and the current intel procs are all LGA 775
so u might find it difficult to find a 3.0ghz proc with the old socket

so better upgrade the mobo also

Yeah, your MB is Ok,but make sure to upgrade your processor to a P4 2.8 or above(socket 478).Your MB will support THE 6600GT or 6800GT because the MB has an 8x AGP slot. The Graphics card will cost you Rs 9300(6600GT) and Rs 16800(6800GT).1 GB DDR 400 MHz RAM will cost you Rs 4600 for Hynix and Rs 5400 for Transcend.Of the two,Transcend is better.
