Reinstalled Win98SE........Therefore The dual boot option is Gone.

u can fixboot or just make a new boot.ini file and replace it with the existing one....but 'fixboot' is lot more easy and safe....

Yes if you format C: drive , XP files boot.ini will be gone!! Now the only option is to
reinstall XP since the formatting C drive has deleted the XP files, and it's boot loader which was stored in the MBR.

Ok. Do as follows:
first make all hidden files nd system files visible.(to do so open my computer/tools/folder options/view/and check boxes
show hidden files nd folders
and uncheck: hide protected operating system files
apply ok

hope u got only one hdd

go to c: nd locate the file boot.ini nd open it
just below the line:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft windows"......(somethin)
add the line exactly as follows or copy paste it:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="My Windows XP Pro" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
