Is anybody here using external harddisks?
I want to purchase the same upto Rs 2500 instead of 4GB pendrive.
I searched in eBay and found this 2.5 inch 30GB USB hdd but I dont know whether the brand is reliable or not.
Please suggest me any good external USB hdd upto 2500/-.

So now i need a laptop hdd and usb casing. Whats the price of 40gb laptop hdd? And are there any specific USB casing available or just anyone will do?

Yeah Search is a good option but it somewhat doesn't work in this forum. I tried searching in titles too.

i recently bought one

80gb Western Digital laptop HDD + Zippy's 2.5" casing = rs. 2550
40gb ---------------------""----------------------- = rs. 2150

rates as per RR Systems, Nehru Place, New Delhi

The external hdd is amazing. its one of my best buys

if u're talking about 3.5" hdd casing that cases a normal desktop hdd, then yes it is definitely cheap. for the price of a 80gb laptop hdd, u'll get a 160gb desktop hdd. but it is large and also comes with a power adapter bec the power it requires can't be supplied via usb

so if u're just looking for a back up device go for the 3.5" one
if u're looking for portability, go for th 2.5" one - it gets its power thru the usb cable only

i am getting 80 Gb seagate hard disk for 4000

The only thing I didn't like is we have to carry a cable with ext hdd.
But still its a good option.
