Hi,
Planning to buy an external storage in ongoing sale. As it would be used only for important files, a good reliable option needed. Heard that SSDs are better option.. can settle with 250 or 500 GB. Best option within 5k plz.

Shortlisted these.
Samsung T5
Samsung T7
SanDisk Extreme

However, all are approximately 7k for 500 GB. Any suggestions?

Well, regular as in? Any suggestions?
Also, I am not well versed with different technologies. Is this case for SSD?

Regular as in a 2.5" sata ssd with the orico adapter mentioned above. Unless you have a USB 3.2 port (or higher) and internal nvme drive, you won't be able to get more than ~600 MB/s which is about the same as sata ssd drives.

Well, I am currently using Mac Air previous model. Not sure about the speed it supports.
Also, I am a little skeptical about any connector. I am assuming that enclosure is for increasing the speed. Any other benefits? Suggestion for SSD?

That enclosure is to convert your typical 2.5" sata internal ssd to an external usb 3.0 sata ssd without any bells & whistles(aka you don't get a shiny external cover with design & logo). Around 5k the best 2.5" sata ssd you can get nowadays is this:
Use card discount offers to bring the final price down.

Where MX500 stands compared to Samsung T5? Is it worth to pay a littke extra for T5? As mentioned, I will use the same with Mac as well as windows

Get T5 if you want to edit 4k videos straight from the SSD.

I won't pay that much for that less external storage.
PS: 500GB external SSD is way too much to be used as a "backup" drive IMO. I'd just keep redundant copies on google drive and external hdd instead.
