Explain Full Duplex

What is Full Duplex & Half Duplex in sound cards ?
What the difference the user will experience while listening from each sound card individually ?

Is the onboard sound provided on Intel 845/865 motherboards are full duplex capable ?

damn i remember full and half duplex modems
i cant recall soundcards

umm ok i think its abt sound input and sound output
more easily ... mic and speakers
half duplex are the realllllyyy old sound cards ... they arent even available anymore ofcourse
all cards nowadays are full duplex
back to the topic
long long time back ... say if u were voice chatting ...
either u could hear output from ur speakers ... or u could talk in ur mic ...
this was half duplex
now ofcourse u can talk and listen at the same time ... thats full duplex
this is a very crude description that too if its right

Sound card which can sned & recive inputs & output streams at the same time are called full duplex, all the pentium 4 motherboard from the Intel 845, VIA P4M266 are Full duplex, even onboard

sorry what i meant was , Play and Listen(via Mic) Simultaneously

That is in Voice Chat "Hear and talk " Simultaneously...

And Excuse me GXSaurav, Full Duplex is a pure function of soundcard(or Soundchip) not the function of Processor or Motherboard(chipset).... (As far as i know...)

Depends on the version

I think so its full duplex you can listen to as well as talk .

Especially when your in a mood to fight.
