Enabling surround sound with Ubuntu 6.06

    Mother board: Intel 945 chipset Asrock conroe945
    It's just playing the front two speakers. Alsamixer command not helping.

    which distro using?
    alsamixer is available with alsa-utils package in Debian/Ubuntu Linux.get the latest alsa drivers if u r having newer on-board/soundacard card.
    save your volume ctrl settings using "alsactl store"

    then apt-get install alsa-utils.do above steps.
