High without substance...
2-3 years back i was looking for a DVD player my self, i looked many places my budget was almost same as yours.

i went to many showrooms and one thing that i found out(at least most of them told me) that the branded ones do not have a long lasting lens.

this does not seem logical but arroung 10 shops told me the same. i still do not think so. but what is imp is that you will have to look for a DVD player with a Divx support. take some orginal DVD along with DVD burnt as a data disk with AVI and MPEG4 files, if they play buy.

i think philips will be a good choice.

same here.. i too have phillips! if you're not a videophile, phillips will solve the need. but dont expect it to be a part of your rocking home theatre..

very nice picture, sound quality, needs a bit of improvment on DivX playback. and excellent after sales service.

second options might include.. Sony(good on price, quality factor but UI is not very user friendly), Videocon, Onida, Samsung, LG, and other low end brands are realy bad LoL.. Trust me! go for a Philips, get a 1 yr extended warranty and enjoy!!
