My dvd writer can read and write cds but cannot even read dvds. I have the region set as 5.
    I have a philips dvd+rw d28 drive...just set it up. I'm running windows xp, 512 ram,i have nero installed.
I installed latest firmware. another version of the firmware i was trying to install but i got an error - ASPI manager not found. On net i found different variations of the wnaspi32.dll file(ASPI manager file), one is 49kb,other 200kb and another inside nero folder is 168kb.
    Is it a software/driver problem??
    Please help me,
    thanks

    Which OS u r using.....

    I will explain for both

    as for windows 98

The four files needed for Win95/98/Me are the following:

    WINDOWS\SYSTEM\IOSUBSYS\APIX.VXD
    WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WINASPI.DLL
    WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WNASPI32.DLL

and ONE of the following two files
    WIN95\SYSTEM\ASPIENUM.VXD (if u r using Adaptec drivers)
    WIN95\ASPI2HLP.SYS (if u r using default Win95 drivers)

The four files needed for WinNT/2K/XP are the following:

    WINNT\SYSTEM\WINASPI.DLL
    WINNT\SYSTEM\WOWPOST.EXE
    WINNT\SYSTEM32\WNASPI32.DLL
    WINNT\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ASPI32.SYS

    Download and auto ASPI Drivers
    ------------------------------------
    http://download.adaptec.com/software_pc/aspi/aspi_v472.exe (ADAPTECH ASPI)
