Guys what do you think :

1. Does increasing cores beyond two will increase the performance considerable?

2. Does any desktop user needs more than two cores?

3. Do you need it? Don't say yes coz you are a hardcore gamer but do you really need it?

Nope..... man no need or dual cores...... a single core is capable of handling all the jobs we normally do.... to the extent of to some heavy ones too..... Gamers just think they need a powerful cpu but what they really need is a powerful GPU as graphics processing is handled by GPU instead of Cpu.. a single core such as a P4 3.0Ghz HT cpu if is fitted with say a card like 512mb ATI 1950 pro XT while a dual core say 3.0Gz fitted with say low end card such as Nvidia 6600 GT if we run the same game say any demanding game like Oblivion then the gaming experience will be smoother in single core PC fitted with a Higher GPU instead of Lower end card fitted with more power CPU....................

CPU is just the Central/Common proceessing UNIT of Computers so will perform common task while specialized task are performed by specialized processors fitted inside the system.........
example are many........
Mathematical - Math co-processors......
Sound- Sound chip of your sound card........
IDE- South bridge IDE controller.......
DMA- DMA controller........
Lan- Lan Chip...fitted on Lan Card...........
so on so on..............
take it like this ................. CPU is the head of the Computer processing will many processors work under him.... so he needs to control them all and oversee them all....... so HT( 2 Process queues) ....... will be handling it more efficiently................ while in Dual core there becomes 2 Units each doing the work of supervision they have their own set of memory and hence are more sufficient in handling the CPU's basically have registers inside them and in dual core these registers are doubled ...........AND GOD I AM SO BORED.........

MAN JUST GET THIS DUAL CORE WILL GIVE YOU MORE FIREPOWER, YOU WILL JUST NEED IT IF YOU HAVE TO KILL AN ARMY FOR KILLING DAILY FLIES DONOT HIRE BIG GUNS..............

PEACE

Dual cores says u can do multitasking...just an example....If u r converting a full length movie & wanna play game at the same time, dual core will help u in this. One core will help u in playing games & another will help u in converting movie.Speaking layman its 2 virtual processors stick together.
