display driver stop responding

my system specs r
amd athlon 64 3000+
msi k8mm-v
256 mb 400mhz ram hynix,in which 64 is seprately for graphics
80 gb sata segrate
no graphics card is installed.

when i play games eg gta III
firstly my system hangs whenever there is a blast or a explosion.sometimes it can
survive multiple blasts but after that it hangs and after several tries
of pressing ctrl+alt+del
msg:ur display driver vtdisp has stopped responding
resart ur system to display full functionality


after i resart i went to BIOS and cpu temp 45 and system temp 43
after booting up a msg appered ur system as recovered from a serious error

i also get one more error on blue screen

Are you using the latest drivers ?? If not install them.
The reason why its creating problem in blasts is that it requires more processing to render those scenes and the gfx core is overloaded and crashes.

Another cause of your prob may be ur hynix ram ,I had a similar prob with a similar conf except for my msi rs480m2-il mobo. In my case the ram was creating probs, since the gfx card used a part of RAM as its Video mem,the gfx engine used to crash becoz of the RAM. To resolve this prob I reduced my RAM frequency to 133mhz from 200mhz.(I found the soln from trial & error).Hynix Rams are cheap but not good,this is what I gathered from feedbacks given by ppl.

Try to shift the memory chip to some other slot......the blue screen usually appear for improper connections....

could be anything from overheating to bad drivers

hey,
its not a heating issue i checked the temp
in BIOS cpu=44 system =41
i tried changed the slot,updated drivers & win xp
with sp2 but nothing happened. how to reduce its frequency???.also in system information total ram
is 50 mb
as i cant buy a new ram

Go to ur BIOS settings and look for DRAM setting. There u'll find the settings to reduce ur mem frequency.
Also reduce ur graphics RAM to 64 mb(If its not 64mb). So that ur system gets a good amount of RAM..around 192mb

I think changing the ram frequency will solve the problem but it surely will reduce graphics performance.
