No, not really. I just need some information for my college project. can anyone give me an idea about how much investment would it take to set up a shopping website? The site will sell and rent books.

And although not related to tech, do you have any idea about public lending rights?

A Domain like .com would cost you around Rs 300/ year or more
Space for you site depends upon your requirements but you can start off as low as Rs 200 or more for a year

For making a shopping site, you can use various Ecommerce scripts such as OsCommerce, ZenCart DEMO, some of which can be easily and automatically installed for you depending upon your hosting.

But budget can increase if your site need more resource (bandwidth+space).

Prefer using any E-commerce scripts for building a shopping site.

i suppose i couldn't make my question clear. I want the total cost involved, the computers i'll need to buy, the staff to be recruited, the time needed to put it up on the web, the space required for this setup and other maintenance costs etc. not just the cost of hosting.

I think all the questions are more answerable by you itself then anyone on the forum

Rest are more answerable by you yourself, since u are more aware of the project, it buget, its time limits, its constraints etc
