Hi eveyone,

Another problem with no idea how to proceed for solution... System is windows XP SP2 on a P-III 1GHz 256MB RAM pagefile in default location and is system managed.

Problem is sometimes after a normal start up I discover that my desktop icons remain rooted to their place. No effect of mouse trying to drag them. " Auto arrange and Align to Grid both are unchecked" . So if I have to move the icon from one place on desktop to other ( anywhere) I have to cut it and paste it at that particular point. Well that works for most icons but not for Special folders like My Documents or My Computer .. moreover cut paste is not the solution. Also I observed that when this happen the drag function inside various folders also does not work.

Temporary Solution : Restart the system and it works on next restart. But again problem surfaces on later restarts so a solution is needed also if anyone could explain why this happens.

this is often a classic indication of the blaster worm or one of its many variants. if u c a process running called "msblast.exe", u hav it . No harm in running ur AV in safe mode to check.
