Tracy City (TN) – Scrap metal thieves may have toppled a 360-foot tall cell tower in an attempt to secure a few pounds of copper. Police in Tracy City Tennessee say the thieves struck late Friday or early Saturday and cut the guy wires holding up the tower. Mobile phone service has obviously been disrupted in the area and it will take at least two weeks to restore. Police aren’t saying how much copper the thieves got away with. The scrap metal sells for about $3 a pound.

Almost the same thing happened in my village. In the middle of the night, just before 2 am when my downloads start, the phone line goes dead. Next morning I find out that the thieves had dug out the underground telephone cables and run away with them! This is insane! From now on I'm on full alert. ;)
