Convert DVD movies to AVI SETTING.. NEED HELP

I have many movies on DVD ..which i want to convert to AVI files.

which software should i use..

which can give me give me small size avi like 450 to 600MB.
also the quality should be good enough to view in full screen

what should be the setting..

i.e. resolution, video codec, audio codec, audio kbps, sampling rate..

can any body provide me with these settings...

Try dvd::rip and avidemux - these are the BEST Linux tools to get ur job done. Or u may run DVD Shrink or any other such Windows software under Wine.

Me use the following settings for dvdrip

Container: AVI
Video Codec: ffmpeg
ffmpeg codec: MPEG4
Video framerate: 23.976 fps
Video bitrate: 1000 kbps
Audio Codec: MP3
Bitrate: 128 kbps 48000 Hz
