Connecting two PCs..

I would like to know if it is possible to directly connect two PCs using a Cross Lan cable but with a following constraint

One PC is on WORKGROUP and is Home PC
Another is a Laptop which is otherwise on a Domain with userid/password i.e. I can not change any network setting here except at the max can assign one 192.168 series IP Address to this laptop.

I tried it… Lan connection shows connected status on both systems but I can not see the each other in the network places.

you should share the drive which you want to see on other PC

if both are showing lan connections and both reply on ping then u just need to share ur folders and allowing file sharing option to share files two pc's
