Connecting Inspire 5.1 to DVD for Home Theatre

Hi,
I tried connecting my Creative Inspire 5.1 to my Philips DVD - 5106K and TV for viewing Home theater. Problems i am facing :
No sound from the rear and center speakers even on a movie like Star Wars III
Do i have to buy a decoder to solve this issue ?
Also what guage of wire should be used to hook up the rear speakers since the distance is 15 mt from the Woofer ?
Pl help since a a novice in these matters

hi,,

you must have done the very common problem which everyone does !!!
If your DVD supports 5.1 then its ok but if not then set it up to sorround mode in sound setup.... and if you already tried this then try connecting your creative speakers with a aux digital interface coz creative is meant for PC music and movie exp.. and DVD can be a little dozzzy...

you must go for cat3 audio interface cable...
