Coniguring Gmail account for outlook 2003

I wanted to know how to configure the gmail account to outlook 2003.
And in windows xp it shows the no. of new messages.
Is this configured with MS outlook or outlook express

and the new messages shown in windows xp are of your .NET account every time you log on it records the no. of messages. 8)

.NET means the whole family (i.e @hotmail.com,etc) or any specific

Do you mean the no. of new messages on the login screen?
Its just the number of unread messages in your default Mail Client. It can even be Mozilla Thunderbird.
