Right off the assembly line
Hi all,
I am a amateur photographer and I want to assemble a PC Primarily for photo editing and secondarily for viewing TV in it. Kindly suggest a good configuration.

My requirements are:
(a) It should have atleast 1 GB RAM
(b) It should be able to run Photoshop elements at a reasonable speed.
(c) If possible it should have Compact Flash (CF) card reader built into it.
(d) It should have large hard Disk space (80 to 120 GB)
(e) Monitor should have capacity for accurate colour reproduction (17")
(f) Quality of picture as TV should be good.

My budget is in the range of 25K to 30K.

Thank you all in anticipation.

GO for the AMD based or intel Celeron base, with the TV Tunar card, i will advice u to go for the TFT screen (LCD) they are bit costlier (17'' will cost around 11-12K) but the picture quality is really good

If possible go for Athlon64 X2 3800+, this will cost u about 18k or above but it will provide the bestperformance for Photshop, as it is really fast in it

Since it's for photoshop, Intel Pentium 4 will provide better performance then Athlon64 3000+, i recomend that U buy a Athlon64 3000+ & overclock it to 2 GHz, this will provide more performance then Pentium 4 3 GHz, while still running cool at the stock heatsink

Weather it's Athlon64 3800+ X2 or Pentium 4 3 GHz or Athlon64 3000+, get 1.5 GB RAM (2X512 MB + 2X256 MB DDR400), a SATA Harddisk, with the size as u reuire.

Even onboard Intel GMA 900 graphics of 915 chipset is enough for photoshop, but since U want TV also, i would say go for a Geforce 6200 graphics with 128 MB RAM, the cheapest U can find, or in case of AMD get a Geforce 6100 chipset based motherboard which will be enough for U
