CDRom Drive not visible

Hi i am facing a problem I have just installed XPSP2 7 days ago now today when I started my computer It doest show my CD Rom drive. My cdrom is allright. I have checked by booting my system through CDRom it is booting. I think some registry problem. Help me ?

i have faced same problem in my friend's PC..i tried device manager..but it was enable there. i have checked connection too.
after all fail try. we decided to format it. after format icd drives are showing properly. but again after some days same problem we faced..

how did u format the optical drive. plz xplain. May be u hv got corrupted windows files due 2 which hv experience such probs

Is actually a real word..
Driver, check to see if there is a driver for your CD-rom. is it displayed in device manager? may have to check unknow devices (?) it may be listed there.

Pls try this:

Open regedit and goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Now delete upper filter & lower filter if present. Restart the system and now it should solve the problem. :)

is that the only way to clear the upper/lower filters? I was actually researching that (for Kaushal Hiwarkar) but for got how to do it, and now you beat me to it!:cool:
