Cannot reinstall Norton Anti Virus 2005

My NAV 2005 GOT CORRUPT wile updating (Part of NSW 2005), so I had to unistall it. But While reinstalling, installation stalls at any point usually at mvcrt followed by information about installation failure. I uninstalled NSW and tried to reinstall again. NSW got installed but not NAV. CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT?
No question regarding leagality please, fully legal.
System Information

P4 2.4, Win XP Pro 2002 fully updated. 256MB 266 DDRRD RAM.

UNLESS U GOT OTHER SYMANTEC PRODCUTS DONT DO THIS

uninstall again....check in program files if any files remain of symantec delete em....use some registry cleaner software and make sure no symantec stuff is left in the registry

den install it agn


chek if da CD is scratched it mite b if it gets stuck at the same point everytime

try deleting all SYMANTEC files as ishaan has said
try deleting folder c:\program files\common files\symantec shared
also c:\program files\symantec
also uninstall LIVEREG & LIVEUPDATE 2.5 from add & remove prog.
