Cannot load Win 98se in Safe Mode

Ever since I have installed Win XP
I am unable to load Win 98 in safe mode. If I press the F8 button the booting options for Win XP comes. If I press the control key then also the booting options for Win 98 do not come.

If I connect to the net in Win XP the connection remains fine for sometime but afterwards the net speed drops. I tried putting S36=7 in the Extra settings under the Modem tab but did not work.

Hi Pal,

It seems tht ur Windows 98 is corrupted, my option wud be re-insallaing windows 98 again.

I have the same tuff Windows 98 and Windows XP, but during start when I press F8, I can see options for Windows 98 and Windows XP, I guess the probs is with ur Corrupt 98.

My be u can try to fix them up !

- do u get the 98 option in boot menu ?
- try holding ctrl key just before u choose 98 from boot menu .
- r u able to go into 98 ? if so in msconfig u have advanced button > check show or display start menu .
