can we install vista without DVD?is it possible ?

One of mine friend have xp pro and now want to install vista..but he dont have DVD writer as machine is 1 yr old.....

is it possible to install vista without dvd if he will download ISO 2.5 GB.

is it possible to mount ISO with daemon tools or alcohol 120 % and install without booting from dvd on separate partion ?

what about xp pro ?
is it k if he will keep xp as it is whilie installing vista ?

Microsoft surely provides Vista on a 4-5 CD pack for those who dont have a DVD ROM. If your friend can buy that then his problem will be solved.

^^But I read somewhere over the net (shayad on the MS website itself) that the CD version is also available to general public!!

yes, U can install Vista by mounting image. (Bcoz I'm doing for Vista RC1)

Mount image using Alcohol 120% & u r thru....

do usual installation. Whether it is upgrade or New Installation !

its not related piracy........As he dont want to install dvd writer as it will add expenses .

his hosp have 2mbps speed.,no prob about speed and unlimited downloading.

if its possible for public then pls provide me links.....regarding online purchasing of such way.

No, Dude only DVD comes first for Vista. You can buy DVD , the price was low LG 18X DVD RW Worth Rs 1650 /-.

I have VISTA RC1 DVD. But I made image of it 'n every time I want to install it, I use image instead of DVD.

Where come piracy ???

yeah as long as u haf a lega key the insallation source doesn't matter! yes, u can mount the dvd iso and install it. but afaik, only upgradation will work not fresh install.

Just extract the ISO image using WinRAR or 7-Zip and u'll get the installation folder. Run Setup.exe and choose Fresh installation. Thats it. ;)

^^ or you can load it in virtual drive and start the installer. I did it a just 2 hrs back. I used Magic ISO to load the vista image into a image drive and started a fresh install from XP.

Both Upgrade & Fresh Installation is possible!

U have to choose which one u want.
