i installed a vista like theme from gnome-look and i seem to have slowed my pc down. is it possible or is it that any theme takes the same cpu usage and hence nothing wrong? it might all be in my head.

by the way how does my desktop look?

The images used by a theme, if of a higher size, will considerably use up more of your available RAM. But theme files are generally well compressed and thus, shouldn't be an issue.

Depends on the amount of RAM you have in your system. If its ample (700 MB+) then theres nothing common that can slow down your PC.

see gnome-system-monitor whether it uses memory more.but i dont think any theme will be responsible for more memory use.it is apps and services(processes) which are responsible.make sure.

@praka123 - Of course themes are very much likely to take more RAM/vRAM up if their files are huge :)

@tgparveen - 512 is just fine, don't worry about the small dents a theme *might* make on your RAM usage.
