hey guys !
I am curious have any macbook users here added extra RAM to their books ?
If you have then i have a few questions

1> did you do it via an authorised apple dealer ? what is the cost involved ?
2> or did you just go to the local market baught the ram and installed it yourself ... in this case.. what are the consequences ? is the warranty that apple provides voided or what ? is it even a good idea to install third party ram ?

I would appreciate any help provided !! Thanks you guys :)

I haven't owned a MacBook (though I'm considering to buy a MacBook Pro after Leopard is released) but you can upgrade the RAM in both ways. Apple has a tutorial in their site: docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303721

You may also want to check *guides.macrumors.com/Upgrading_MacBook_RAM if you want to upgrade it manually.

If you upgrade it from any Apple Stores/Authorized Resellers, they'll upgrade it for you.

I own a Mac Pro, and used to own a Mac mini and an iBook.

Aarya here is a MacBook Pro user, I beleive. He's currently in "shameful misery" though. You'll have to wait for him to return.

PM him.

It is extremely simple to do it yourself though.

But the authorised Apple reseller won't charge you anything for it anyway, so it is better to have them do it if it is not inconvenient for you. :)
