I am a subscriber of BSNL Dataone Broadband Service (Home 500
Plan) which promises a 256kbps speed at a monthly subscription
of Rs. 500. But I get an average download speed around 32
kbps as indicated by Download Accelerator Plus. A 100mb
file takes approximately 50 minutes to dowmload. Then what
is 256kbps? Can anybody answer?

Let the music play.....
256 kbps = kilo bits per second

30 kBps = kilo Bytes per seconds

256 kbps = 256000/8 = 32000 Bps

32000 Bps = 32000/1024 = 31.25 kBps

mannnn kbps means kilobits per second
8 bits make a byte
so u get a FULL speed ie. 256/8 = 32Kbps (Kbps - kilobytes per seconds)
do u get it?
k - kilo bits
K - kilo bytes

PS: sorry... didn't read that the ans was alreadyt there... sry
