broadband problem in win98se

I have an ADSL Broadband connection from BSNL(dataone);

I works fine in WIN XP pro

But in IN 98se when I connect to the internet it disconnects after 5 minutes and the computer hangs.....

HELP.............

well it wont work straight away like Xp.....u need to patch some files for it .......

In my 98 SE CANNOT USE DATAONE AS IT 'FAILED TO DETECT MODEM'. Any step by step guide?

first check if our ethernet card is working properly. then check your cables and wiring.
i use xp though...

I had this same problem during the intial stage, but then an engineer called me up and said that the network settings had to be tweaked[DNS, gateway, Ip] & since then its working fine.
