I have a dataone broadband connection. When I first switch on my modem, after about 5 minutes, connection seems sluggish and gets disconnected for 5-10 seconds. It happens every time. How can I overcome this?

i m using airtel it even happens to me..and sometimes it is a modem prob
and sometime it is server prob..the only thing we can do ..is
as a first measure:
1)restart the modem or router..or repairing connection.
2)think something else like calling helpdesk .

Are you using USB Modem ?? USB Modems are subject more problems than Ethernet
I'm using ethernet for broadband.
During the initial moments, connection seems sluggish. Once it restarts, everything works normal then.

This process will always put ur connection active and live
so u never face problem of disconnection
Follow these steps

1. Press Window key+R
2. In Run Prompt Type 'notepad'
3. type ping -t <DNS Server>
4. Press Ctrl+S
5. In file Name Dialog Box write Net.bat(or anything but extension should be .bat) also select File Type as All(*.*)
6.Now u r done when u connect ur net after connection just run this file

To know whats ur DNS server

Type ipconfig/all on command prompt

It keeps pinging the dns server continuously. I'll lose a lot of bandwidth if I do that.

it pings only 32bytes of data how much band width u lose there buddyy

i think its negotiable

also it keeps ur connection alive

even if u r not working on net

32 bytes per second => 2KB per minute => 120KB per hour

Not a lot of bandwidth wastage:)

dude, just log in to the "Modem Settings" Page (thru IE, Opera...) & goto the "ADSL Settings" under "Advanced" & see what "ADSL Modulation" you are using.

If its "G-lite" then change it to ADSL 2+. (or try experimenting with other modes)

for many ppl the G-lite works perfectly, but for me when i changed from ADSL2+ to G-Lite i faced exactly the same problem as you do.

I'm using Multimode. Previously I was using ADSL2+. But back then my speeds were very low. After changing to MULTIMODE, my speed has increased.
