Hi Everyone

Just wanted to ask small question from you all. I always installed OS after activating Partitions so that Boot Managers dont cause a problem

Earlier, i used to have 98 on one partition and XP on another. I used XOSL as boot manager.

Now i have done same thing for XP and Vista. Since i made another partition active and installed Vista on it.....Vista Boot loader didnt detect XP.

I need your suggestion on some good 3rd party boot manager

On Suggestion of Vishal Gupta, i installed Vista BootPro, unfortunelt it didnt work :(

I hv faced the same problem when I installed Vista on C: Drive and my XP was on D: Drive. Vista didnt detect XP and the Vista boot loader didnt contain entry for XP.

Then I installed Vista Boot Pro and manually added an entry for XP. ;)

This is what i did till now. XP is installed on Partition 1 and its boot.ini has
Code:
[boot loader]
;timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Since i am on Vista, it is Drive C at the moment, on XP it is Drive H. Installed Vista Boot Pro and Edited OS Enties

Try to add a new entry for XP and choose "Legacy OS" and drive must be C:, thats what I did when I faced the same problem. Currently I don't hv Vista Boot pro installed, so can't help much.
Also try following link:

Hmm Getting a ERROR.. /create is there though

Code:
C:\>C:\Windows\system32\bcdedit /create {ntldr} -d "Windows XP"
The create command specified is not valid.
Run "bcdedit /?" for command line assistance.
