Hi,
I am building an Athlon64 system and have finalised and purchased most of the items except the processor and motherboard.... I was planning on getting ASUS K8N but found someone said that it will be good only if u use nVidia card. I have already purchased ATI Radeon 9600.

One main technical detail I found confusing - ASUS website for K8N mobo says 1xAGP8X (1.5V only). ATI specs seems to indicate that Radeon 9600 operates at AGP4x for 1.5V and operates at AGP8X at 0.8 V. What does this mean? Will the card run at AGP4x only (as shown in
*store.yahoo.com/directron/15agpguide.html - please cut and paste as I have turned HTML off for my posting) ? In that case, will it be better to go for ASUS K8V-X which has VIA K8T800 chipset?

Please let me asap so that I can decide and purchase...
Thanks in advance,
Arun

There wont be any problem. Also there is no ATI Radeon 9600 series card that runs @ 4X,all run @ 8X

Also using a ATI card with nvidia chipset based mobo is not going to creae any compatibility issues,it will work flawlessly.

for exapmle,i was using 9800Pro with k8N -E-Deluxe & K8V both,no problem at all.

therez no point a compatibility question arises between process/MOBO nd a grafix card!!

be happy nd contended with ur gfx card...go out nd empty ur pockets on procc/MOBO, nd enjoy half life2...!!!!

who told u bout nvidia mobo n ati gfx card not workin properly 2gether ??? :D :D :D

therez not much performance diff btw a agp 4x n agp 8x config ( much like , therez not much performance diff btw agp 8x n pci-e 16x)
agp 4x port is sufficient enough 2 run agp 8x card .
also , in asus a8n-sli , vile 2 cards r runnin 2gether , the 2 pci-e 16x cards r made 2 run at pci-e 8x each

so don't worry . HAPPY FRAGGIN
