asus k8v-x is crap. it will supress the overall performance of the system. go for atleast asus k8n mobo. it has raid suppor and the performance is excellent. maybe you can go in for just 256 mb of ram right now and upgrade to 512 later. but DO NOT BUY k8v-x

Asus K8V-X is a decent board.Why are you saying it isnt good?
I have installed one machine based on it,it is pretty decent.

k8v-x is quite a decent value board.in fact performance wise,the k8t800 chipset is better than the nf3 chipset.if raid is needed,i'd suggest k8v.

One of my friends installed this board as a standby for a few days. he shifted to the k8n a few days later. i am telling you there was a drastic performance difference.........the performance kind of doubled.

Hi, I have monitor, speakers, cd-rw,dvd rom, mouse & keyboard,

Mine is PIII 501 MHz, 192 MB Ram, 17 GB HDD

I want just to AMD Processor (better 2.4 GHz) , best Mother board with 3 PCI Slots, 256 MB ram, 40 GB HDD, good 64 mb agp card. Please give me the cost range for these specifications

in that case,i'll suggest u go for the following
athlon 64 3000+(socket 939) : 8k
msi k8t neo2 7.5k
2*256 pc2700 ram approx 2.5-3k
club3d 9600 non-pro 6k(approx)

if you r not that much in to gaming, u can go for a cheaper card like club3d 9250(4k approx)

if u'r on a too tight budget, go for a socket 754 config,
athlon64 2800 & asus k8v dlx.that shld come within 15k
